Thank you letters are brief personalized notes that emphasize an idea that was discussed during an interview or
networking event. They also show courtesy to your potential future employer or contact.
Tips
During the interview or event, take notes. This will allow you to include relevant details in the thank you letter.
Gather contact information from each interviewer or representative. Ask for a business card to ensure spelling and
titles are correct. You can address your thank you letter to an individual or a group. Customize each letter by
including a sentence or two that references specific discussions. Send a thank you note within 24-48 hours. It is
appropriate to send the note via email.
