LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network available for those looking to start or grow their careers.
They can use LinkedIn to find jobs or internships, connect and strengthen professional relationships, and
learn the skills they need to succeed in their careers. A complete LinkedIn profile can help users connect with
opportunities by showcasing their unique professional story through experience, skills, and education.

Anatomy of a Profile
Photo: Where individuals make their first impression. Profile pictures should be of the individual alone, from
shoulders up and smiling, with a neutral or professional background.
Headline: Tells people what the individual is excited about now and outlines their aspirations for future
endeavors.
Summary: Their unique story in their own voice. Highlights what the individual is interested in, what they are
good at, and their career goal( s) .
Experience: Shows what the individual has achieved. Lists internships, summer jobs, and part-time jobs, and
describes accomplishments.
Organizations: Shows the individual's involvement with communities that are important to them. This includes
clubs at school or outside, with descriptions of their role in each organization.
Education: The foundation of the individual's career. Includes school, major, and degree, as well as clubs,
leadership roles, and honors earned.
Volunteer Experience & Causes: It counts and should be included, as 41% of hiring managers consider
volunteer experience equally as valuable as paid work experience.
Skills & Expertise: Raises the individual's ranking in recruiter searches. Listing five or more skills can lead to
up to 17 times more profile views.
Honors & Awards: Showcases the individual's hard-earned awards, whether earned in or out of school.
Courses: Lists the classes to show off the skills and interests the individual is most excited about.
Projects: Showcases the individual's leadership in team assignments in school or independent projects.
Recommendations: Individuals can ask managers, professors, or classmates who have worked closely with
them to write a recommendation, providing extra credibility to their strengths and skills.
