Why Career Assessments Matter
Self-Discovery: Assessments provide a structured approach to self-discovery, aiding individuals in uncovering
hidden talents, skills, and interests that may not have been fully realized.
Informed Decision-Making: Help individuals gain clarity about potential career paths that resonate with their
personality, values, and goals. Make informed decisions regarding academic and professional pursuits.
Maximize Your Potential: Helps individuals identify areas for growth and development, enabling them to
maximize their potential and pursue a career that not only provides financial stability but also brings genuine
fulfillment.
Tailored Career Exploration: Helps narrow down career options by exploring professions that align with
assessment results, saving time and energy in the exploration process.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator - MBTI
Measures aspects of personality: Extraversion vs. Introversion, Sensing vs. Intuition, Thinking vs. Feeling, and
Judging vs. Perceiving.
Suggests careers aligned with personality preferences.
Strong Interest Inventory
Measures interests and categorizes them into themes: Artistic, Enterprising, Investigative, Social, Realistic, and
Conventional.
Suggests occupations based on the interests an individual gravitates toward.
Clifton Strengths
This online test ( formerly Clifton StrengthsFinder) gauges the intensity of talents in each of the 34 CliftonStrengths
themes. These themes represent individuals' key strengths. Upon completion, individuals receive a report featuring
customized descriptions of their dominant strengths in rank order. Emphasis is placed on the top five strengths and
how to develop and enhance them in professional and personal endeavors.
How to Take an Assessment
If you are interested in taking one of the assessments, please contact CTD at ( 305) 348 - 2434 or career@ fiu.edu.
After completing registration and the assessment, individuals can meet with an MBTI- or Strong-certified Career
Coach to review the results.
